Armistead Caregiver Services is a locally owned company dedicated to providing premier non-medical home care to seniors and people with disabilities in Vermont and New Hampshire. Our staff is passionate about providing the opportunity for seniors, disabled people, and people experiencing short or long term illnesses to remain comfortably and safely in their homes for as long as they wish. Armistead offers the following services:

  • Companionship and Personal Care: One on one activities and social interaction, transportation for appointments, aid with physical therapy and exercise, light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, help with bathing, grooming, incontinence care and mobility assistance.
  • Welcome Home Care:  We provide temporary or long-term care to ensure a successful transition home from a hospital or rehab stay, or move to a caring community.  We offer a familiar presence and assistance with mobility, physical therapy, medication reminders, nutritious meal planning and more.
  • Alzheimer and Dementia / Respite Care: We offer compassionate Alzheimer and dementia care and respite for the family caregiver to match your needs.  Armistead can provide care on an hourly or daily basis, or during week-ends and vacation while you are away.
  • 24/7 Care:  If a reassuring presence is needed in your home for safety or companionship or for more intensive care, we offer 24-hour care 7 days a week.
  • End of Life & Hospice Care:  Armistead offers a small team of dedicated caregivers to provide end of life care in the comfort of your home. Caregivers are hospice trained and nurse delegation is available on a case by case basis for limited medical procedures.
  • Geriatric Care Management: For families who are not close by, Armistead offers guidance and support with arranging and monitoring in-home help and services, crisis intervention, hospital or rehab discharges, referrals to specialists, and moves to or from a retirement residence, assisted living community or nursing home.

Armistead Caregivers are bonded, insured, extensively screened, including background checks, enjoy ongoing trainings and supervision to ensure exceptional client care. Armistead handles all scheduling, payroll taxes, insurance and workers’ compensation, and provides 24 hour on-call support. Armistead Caregiver Services is the oldest non-medical local home care provider in the State. Founded in 1999, by UVM graduate, Rachel Lee Cummings, whose experience working as a caregiver convinced her there were two unmet needs in the region:  top-quality care for seniors and disabled people and good jobs for committed caregivers. Today, Armistead continues to address both of these needs in one innovative, people-oriented company. Armistead is a member of the National Private Duty Association (“NPDA”), and is a licensed homecare provider in NH. While there is no formal “licensing” available for homecare providers in Vermont, as members of the NPDA, we continue to work towards bringing licensing to Vermont to ensure ALL homecare providers are providing the highest quality care possible.
