Located in the heart of Addison County, Helen Porter Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center, a non-profit skilled nursing community, can accommodate 105 people for a broad spectrum of services including long-term, short-term rehabilitation, respite, hospice and memory care as well as a monthly dementia support group open to all.
Helen Porter strives to take the Nursing out of Nursing Home with initiatives such as community wide Culture Change and a Namaste Care Program for those with advanced stages of memory loss. Namaste, meaning honor the spirit within, recognizes that the essence of the person is still there. They respond to touch, music, physical comfort and the presence of another human. We have designed a Namaste room with soft lighting, comfortable seating, low levels of stimulation, soft, soothing music and a staff person in constant attendance.
