The mission of the United Way of Chittenden County is to build a stronger Chittenden County by mobilizing our community to improve people’s lives. Our Volunteer Center (VC) supports this mission by mobilizing volunteers to help local nonprofits meet their clients' needs. We strive to provide the best recruitment, referral, recognition and management services to the nonprofit community. We call the VC our "volunteer marketplace" — a place where our team makes thousands of volunteer connections finding the best fit for individuals, families, fraternal organizations, clubs and companies seeking to donate time through our volunteer website and other support services.
For volunteers 55+ the VC offers specialized placement services and opportunities to draw on life experience, wisdom and professional skills to foster change — one generation to the next. These programs are partially federally funded by two national initiatives to mobilize 55+ volunteers, RSVP and the Foster Grandparent Program.
